One of my dogs has terrible allergies. We feed nature variety limited ingredient food and stick with the more obscure meats like buffalo, venison & rabbit. We avoid chicken, lamb and turkey.

It's made a big difference coupled with atopica, a prescription supplement.

It's totally not a hassle for us. I buy it about 3x a year and I order it online, so it's delivered. If going out of town with the dog, I bring a snap tight container with enough food plus extra just in case. I have never had to board her, so no worries about transitioning food for that.

I want to feed my dog the good food, I don't see anything wrong with that. She can't speak up and tell me if there is a problem with her food, so I have to try to give her what I think is best for her. When I decided to get a dog I knew it was a big responsibility and it won't always be convenient, but it is worth it because of what my dog provides for me. Who knew dog food could become controversial lol.

Iams. Never had a problem through 3 dogs and it's now carried in grocery stores.

We went grain free due to digestive problems and use Dick Van Patten's Natural Balance Sweet Potato and Venison. Dog does not receive any people food. For training treats, we use Zuke's.

I called the kennel and asked what dog food they provide. We don't kennel our dog often (and it's a very nice facility) but I figure - choosing from the dog food they offer will keep the transition simple.

Breed: Miniature Schnauzer

Food: Blue Buffalo Lamb & Rice

Treats: Blue Buffalo Duck (for sitting still while I groom), Greenies (evening treat/dental), Milkbone Mini Biscuits (obedience training treats). Sometimes I buy a bone to gnaw too, usually for a vacation or during a special occasion.

Blue Buffalo is really high calorie even if it is high protein. You might want to watch the dairy - my daughter's chi mix has a problem with dairy and also with some of the chemicals we spray our fruit trees with.

We switched her dog to Pro Plan. Not as high calorie but still a well rated food.

Op here- wtf? I order dog food and it gets delivered to my door. Nobody really asked you to go out and seek out designer dog food. What do you feed your dog? Ole Roy? Walmart brand?

I did ask the vet. They said to give her grain free food and they gave me medicine for her ears. But I'm just curious if anyone has had positive experiences with a certain type of dog food.

I'm about to change dog food because I'm not satisfied with blue buffalo freedom for my dog. She's always scratching at her ears and chewing on her paws. I thought this was supposed to help with that, but after nearly three years, it's time for something new. She was on a different grain free brand before we switched her to blue buffalo, but that food wasn't any good either.

For treats I give her chicken or duck jerky, and really just about any kind I see in the store. I buy made in the USA treats.

For people food I feed her plain nonfat Greek yogurt, eggs, green beans, apple slices and meat if we have it. If it's a holiday, she gets a small plate of whatever we are eating and on her birthday I cook a small piece of boneless skinless chicken for her.

My dog is very healthy and has never been overweight. She has been 12 pounds since she reached her adult size. She gets weighed every time we are at the vet. I'm just curious what others are feeding their dogs and if they are satisfied or would even recommend a good premium dog food. Obviously it doesn't cost much to feed a 12 lb dog, so the cost of the food isn't a big deal. A small breed formula is fine or just a standard adult dog food. I've looked on dog food advisor website, but I'm interested in personal experiences if anyone cares to share. Good or bad so I know what to avoid as well.
