Thanks again for the information. I feel ashamed that I have a tooth in such bad condition that it needs to be pulled in my 30's, so it helps to get as much information to help guide me through this process as possible. Plus, I'm afraid of the pain and the bills!

Aetna covers 40% of the extraction and 40% for the implant itself. I think Met life covers 50% of an implant

the real savings however is with the negotiated rate, which is significantly lower than the normal rates an in-network dentist would charge

the key is to use only in-network dentists.

Yes, I had both the lower premolar and the upper wisdom tooth pulled, just with local. It was very quick, painless, easy. The recovery wasn't painless, but it was okay, even just with tylenol.

I had had the root canal earlier, and previous dental surgery for a periodontal cyst. The extractions were faster than the root canal, slightly more involved than the surgery for the periodontal cyst. Knock on wood, I've had the implant for 5 years and it has been entirely problem-free.

Just regular local, no general anesthesia. For a premolar that had previously had a root canal, and one wisdom tooth at the same time. I was pregnant at the time, so they used a fast-acting local.

Bump. Hoping to get some more feedback on this one. Also, for those who had an implant, did you go under general anesthesia? I need one for an upper canine tooth and am trying to weigh if its better to go under or not. Thanks!

I need a tooth implant and am so not looking forward to the pain and expense. I'm trying to determine which of the FEDVIP dental plans will offer the most coverage for the implant. Anyone out there BTDT and have recommendations for me?
