If I were in your shoes (ha!), I'd experiment with an old pair first though, and start small with the cutting. Or alternatively, you could Google search for others who have cut the toebox to free the long toe. Lots of people have a long second toe, so surely some enterprising runner has tried DIY shoe modifications before. Good luck, and please let us know if you try!
