Retaking might hurt her, especially if your family is Chinese or Indian. It might give the impression that she's a workaholic test machine who cares more about test grades than being an interesting person.

If the stereotypes are working against you, you don't want to feed them.

I agree. 35 is an excellent score. No guarantee that a 36 would be attained on the 2ND try and could actually go down a point or two.

Agree, forget the SAT give the ACT another try to see if she can get a perfect score

That said she is already well above the top 25% for every school in the country.

The 35 will yield merit aid at schools that give merit aid

Don't take the SAT until you know your DC's PSAT score in December/January. If she is in the running, then consider taking it but she can wait until December of senior year to take it. So she has time. Remember some schools will require ALL test scores to be submitted.

Take the SAT just to have a score for National Merit, if needed. If you're worried that the SAT score might not be as high, you only have to send one or the other to colleges, so you can send whichever is better.

what grade are you in? what was the score break-outs and was writing included?

Sure why not? Maybe you will do better.

Have you taken the PSAT? If you may possibly be a National Merit Semifinalist, you need to take the SAT to verify your score. You won't have to send it to colleges if you are not happy with it.
