It's too firm, the cushions are oddly-shaped (almost like they're overstuffed), and they gradually slip out from the base. Maybe there are other models that are more comfy. Can't remember the name of our model but it's 2 big cushions on seat and on back with super thin arms.

Hope you have better luck and hope that AL has improved their designs.

I'm still looking, and thanks for letting me know this. We haven't been out to any stores yet, so I will keep this in mind when we do.

American Leather is the best. We have one that's 7 years old and super comfortable still.

We have one from room and board that is comfortable. Expensive though (around $3k). You can try them out at their store on 14th st in dc.

We just got a sofa bed at Haverty's made by American Leather. It's called the Tiffany 24/7. It's not a traditional mattress. I haven't slept on it but our guests said it was very comfortable. Seems much sturdier than other sofa beds. They also have that model at Macy's.

No, that wouldn't work in our space.

American Leather. We've had it for 6 years. Very well made and comfortable. They also make ones with fabric upholstery.

Murphy beds are more comfortable than sofa beds because they have a full sized mattress. Can you fit a Murphy bed?

Oxymoron or can one be found? Looking for something for our walk out basement that is going to have to be a guest room when baby #2 arrives and takes over the current guest room as her own. Basement currently also serves as a TV room for us and sometimes a playroom for DC#1, so something we could fold up makes MUCH more sense than just bringing the guest bed down here.
