If you find the orthopedist unsatisfactory, try a rheumatologist. Autoimmune conditions often respond to steroids.

I felt the same way, I was fairly fit (jogging, walking) but usually very achey and stiff. I looked like an old lady whenever I got out of a chair. I really wondered about Lymes, early onset arthritis, etc. At one point I thought it was a vitamin D deficiency.

Eventually, I went to an orthopedic doctor, who diagnosed bursitis - he said take it easy, and he recommended physical therapy. So I stopped jogging, power walking, etc. and just went to physical therapy for 3x week for 3 months.

Absolutley no change. I was still achy and stiff. I stopped PT.

Finally, I thought, if the light PT exercises / stretching aren't working, let me try something completely opposite - I'll really kick it up several notches and work out intensely with weights. Because I had never done weight training before, I found a great personal trainer to help me, 2x a week.

I'm 2 months in and ALL the aches/stiffness are completely gone. It is amazing. This is after suffering with the achey/stiff thing for like 2 years!!!!

So for me, overall body toning/conditioning has been a miracle cure. I do simple things like bicep curls, planks, lunges, push ups, tricep dips, leg lifts, sit ups. not rocket science.

Check your iron, too. You have two small children, you may just be t$&#! tired.

Could be autoimmune like Lupus or RA (similar experience and was diagnosed with Lupus). You could ask your primary to run ANA.

For the past 2 weeks or so, I just feel off. My joints are achy, and my back hurts. I'm just stiff - when I get out of bed or off the floor or couch, I have to walk for a few minutes to feel loose again. I'm 35, so not old, and I have 2 kids - 2 years and 6 months. My appetite is fine, I haven't gained/lost any weight, and the kids aren't sick, so I don't think I'm getting anything. I'm getting soso sleep as the baby eats once, still, during the night. Could it be my bed? Something else?
