It's only for you to decide. If you've driven the 528 and feels that it's fast enough, then it is. No one else can make that decision for you. Go drive them back to back. If the 535 puts a grin on your face, it's probably a good idea to get it.

You can loose your license in a 528 or a 535. Or a prius. When I wanted a performance car, I looked at the BMW's, but was not impressed (or was impressed, but not with what I could afford). So, I bough a VW GTI (same interior room as a 3-series), and had it chipped for $600. I do miss RWD in the summer, but I got through last winter's snows without a problem.

535. But drive the 3-series also and see if it's big enough for you. They're a lot bigger than they used to be. And the 5-series generally are kind of underpowered.
