These are not grade 9 books.
Your child has 9 writing tasks assigned to him/her this semester. While the tasks can be combined, the objectives must be covered.
methinks you're not exactly truthful . . .
Or if you are, then the school's not following the guide.
Sidartha was grade 12; Frankenstein was grade 10.

Siddhartha was a great book! One of my favs.
I taught Siddhartha to 10th graders, and they were actually really into it. It is about growing up and finding yourself....

Yep, teachers told them that this was the hardest book they'd read in high school! he found it rough going.

My 10th grader read relatively few books last year in English. I was told that 9th grade English spends a lot of time on composition and less on literature. There were some novels. I recall Walden, I think. Also recall A Raisin in the Sun.

He had to read 3 for summer reading (Northwood, honors level), I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings and 2 of his own choosing. So far they've read Antigone in class, and are supposed to always have an independent reading book. They've also been doing a lot of writing.

My child has yet to be assigned a book or any reading. Just curious. Honors english BTW.
