It's also weird that a teacher would assign a major project to be completed outside of school during the 1st quarter of 3rd grade.

My dd has a 504 plan for ADHD, and I asked the teacher twice about a deadline for a major project. The teacher didn't answer the first two times I asked. I asked a third time, and the teacher told me the date and also that the dates are all entered in dd's planner. I looked in dd's planner, and the date was not there. And like I said, dd was sick for 2 weeks, so I thought we should come up with a plan for her to make up tests and do homework. Sorry if you think that's excessive. I don't.

Younger child: never, but did briefly discuss one small issue at drop-off and it was resolved with no further communication necessary.

Older SN child: all the time (at least once a week).

I am looking for a barometer. I have contacted my daughter's teacher twice so far this year with academic-related questions. I do have an older child where I have never had to do this, but my younger one seems to be struggling a bit so I have asked for feedback or questions on two occasions. Just curious how much others contact their child's teacher for input on how they are doing.
