Not PP but JBrand are the only ones I've found that don't stretch out. They are perfect every time.

Check the label for the amount of spandex. It should only be a couple to three percent. Above 5% and this is what happens. You can also just do some tugging and pulling on them in the store. Compare which ones feel a little to comfy and avoid those.

My Hudson's stretched out a ton but my 7 for all mankinds do not stretch out at all. Size 26 for reference.

The secret is to buy them a size down. That way when they stretch out their perfect. The first 5 minutes in them are uncomfortably tight, but after that they're perfect! I wear my jeans several times before washing so they stay stretched out for a while.

I never put mine in the dryer- that's where they shrink!

I usually get Gap or Banana Republic jeans, and they don't usually stretch much. I definitely wear them a few times before washing!

Jeans (denim) is woven on the bias which means that they stretch when you wear them, no matter what they are made of. Spandex gives jeans an extra amount of stretch but even if they are made of all cotton, they are going to stretch during wearing. Washing them tightens them up again.

The better the fit when you first buy them, the better they will continue to fit throughout the day.

Most of my jeans have this problem, too. I recently bought a few pairs of Lucky jeans (they do have a little stretch in them) that fit amazingly well and don't seem to have this problem. I am sold on the brand and wish I had found them years ago.

I hear you OP. Even if I don't want to wear the jeans more than once before washing (and I usually DO want to), my jeans feel baggy and frumpy even before the end of the day. Drives me nuts. I finally learned to buy a size smaller than what seems to fit in the store. Yes, they feel tight in the mornings, but by mid-day they usually feel great. Added bonus, they still fit well the second day. I buy cheap jeans...Old Navy, JC Penny. It couldn't hurt to try buying a size smaller next time, see if it works for you.

Of course they do. All jeans do this. And I don't think it is specific to a certain size, because I'm usually a 6 or an 8. But as long as they go back to normal after you wash them why does it matter? Are we supposed to be able to wear jeans multiple days in a row without washing them? That would be nice, but I have never been able to do that and not look awful.

Yep. I wear a 26, used to be 25. They all do it.

I think it's the spandex/stretch, but other than Wrangler, I don't know of any 100% cotton jeans anymore.

I'm a size 14 petite, so I can't buy the really expensive designer jeans but I've bought Inc brand jeans and Style and Co from Macy's and Seven and Not Your Daughters jeans. Each time, they fit great until the first wash - cold water, hang dry. After that wash, if I wear them once, by the end of the day, they look loose in the knee and butt. I have to wash them again before I can wear them. All of these have stretch in them - either straight leg or boot cut. Is it because of the stretch? Does this also happen with $200 jeans?
