There are naked families and not naked families! My mom still walks around naked.

My 8 YO DS went from walking around naked to needing privacy overnight. I think it was learned behavior as it occurred around when his class at school did swimming lessons and all the boys are changing in the pool locker room.

wait, does one need to develop modesty with immediate family? As long as the kids are being modest when others are over, that seems totally normal. I think with immediate family, modesty happens around puberty.

Age nine for my dd, then starting puberty so she got shy about showing her body.

I think it is when things start changing. My now 12 yo DD got very modest when she developed pubic hair and breasts. Before that, she did not care. I (her father) cared, but she did not.

I'm grown and still talk to people while I'm in the shower. I'm from a large family though so there was usually someone doing their hair or make up while I was in the shower every morning.

6th grade

Probably toward the end of 6th grade. Before that I had to remind her not change in the family room when we had workers in the house.

I think it started to kick in for mine in middle school. Though, today my high schooler walked in on me in the bathroom and proceeded to have a conversation before I kicked him out.

My kids are almost 8 and 10 and have zero modesty at home. When friends are over, or it's not just our immediate family they do want privacy but otherwise they must be reminded to change in private. Is this unusual for kids their age??
