It's not "freaking out." It's called taking precautions. Twelve-year-old kids usually aren't mature enough to take adequate precautions. That's why they have parents.

On a related note, I took my child to the er last night because of a playground fall. They asked about foreign travel in our household, even though dc was not at all ill. They are stepping up information gathering.

I am also more concerned about enterovirus and guns.

I always ask if they have guns at home, and invite the kids at my home instead if they say yes. News are full of gun "accidents" involving kids with guns parents thought were "secured".
