Turnip gratin. Basically load them up with cheese, garlic, cream, salt and pepper. Yum. Lots of recipes if you google.

This might not be different enough, but you could try boiling them in chicken broth for a slightly different flavor.

If you go with the standard boil/puree/butter/salt/pepper, try chopping and frying some shallots and adding those to the puree. It deepens the flavor.

(BTW I find this to be true of just about any pureed savory food.)

I really liked this recipe for turnips with ham and miso broth. It's a summer recipe for baby turnips with the greens on, but you can substitute full turnips and some other kind of green. Don't stint on the lemon--that really made it wonderful.

My mother always made turnips on Thanksgiving, it's the only time of the year we ate them. Now that she's not here anymore I have kept the tradition in my own family but I'm looking for something different this year. My mother always boiled them and just add butter/salt/pepper - which is what I've always done too. I love turnips and am wondering if there are some other fantastic ways to prepare them that I should try for Thanksgiving this year.

Thanks in advance for any ideas!
