Doesn't need to be americanizable but there are easier and harder names for Americans to pronounce . The short I in ijay they'll never get! Sorry no suggestions yet...girl names I've got plenty!

Pick a name that is easily Americanizable .

Several Indian co workers did this in recent year.

Also if you saw theses names how would you pronounce
Ijay
Kavi

ee-JIE

KAH-vee

Ijay I would expect to be pronounced Ee-jay.
Kavi I expect Cah-vee.

I taught a Rishi - I think it was short for something, maybe Krishna, not sure. I thought it was a cute nickname that grew with him into middle/high school.

I know one and I always say it incorrectly. It's really not really said like it's spelled. Vijay maybe if you want something ending in "jay."

Vivan
Jayant (shorten: Jay)
Prashant

Any name that can be shorten easily to Al, Etc

I also don't see a problem with having two names (Indian first name, Americanized middle name) for ease later in life

I don't have any recs but to answer your second question, I'd pronounce Ijay like I.J. And I'd pronounce Kavi like CAH-vee if I saw them.
