We have Malm dressers in our kids rooms and they are great! Just make sure to attach them to the wall because when all the drawers are open at once , as kids are apt to do, the whole dresser can easily fall forward.

My wife wanted to get room and board for $$$$$, I convinced her to look at ikea. We got a Malm bed, bedside malm table, lamp, malm dresser and some other stuff for something like $600.

It's been there for YEARS now and totally fine. If it gets dinged or something I don't care.

We also have two malm beds in our beach house for the adults - both have held up well. They are about 10 years old and one of them has started to have some peeling of the melamine on the side from the salty ocean air (it literally faces the ocean 50 ft away).

Ikea makes a lot of crap stuff, but a few things are actually pretty decent. Just remember that the bed slats are separate from the malm when you buy it...

If you like the malm get it!!! My son's room is Ikea not Ethan Allen. He has a hemnes bed and toy chest, a malm chest, and a micke desk. He loves his room!

Will it last 10 more years through high school? Don't know but it's ok - the room was under $500. No big deal

We have an old hand me down oak dreser that takes up too much floor space in my daughters room.

Weneed to get this out and are thinking of the Malm for a few years until we figure out the space needs.

The dresser is currently used for spare linens and her special items - more than anything else it is a flat surface for her to play with some of her small toys.

Any opinions or other ideas?
