Seemed like a lot of the numbers being posted were for people in consulting or finance roles out of top MBA programs. The compensation for MBA grads from different schools in different roles and industries may not be that high
I know plenty of MBB types who would gladly take a 155k job for stable 40 hours non-stress. I don't think OP understands how rare and valuable that is.
Its common among college educated in non stupid degrees
Give me example(s). I don't know anyone making that money that isn't stressed either due to hours or if not hours, then expectations/pressure.

Yes, there are several buy side firms in the DC area that do public equities. Not many, but they exist. Carlyle is a private equity firm where a CFA is less relevant.

I am making $245k in a non stressful job with only a BS in finance - from a state school no less! Don't see any reason to get an MBA. The CIO of my company doesn't have one either and he's doing just fine (made 10m on his last company's sale).

FYI, if it is helpful: my daughter is making $120K a year after her MBA in Dallas in the telecom field. Probably worth well over $150K in DC based on the relative cost of living. Not a particularly stressful job.

I think non-stressful is the key here.
155k all in comp in a 40 hour non-stressful research role is excellent (even in nyc).
Though CFA usually has the highest value on the buyside - are there many buyside firms in DC besides carlyle?
