Tell the truth about the demographic questions and tell the truth on about 60% of the rest and then lie the other 40%, but not too much.

Decided not to opt child out, but did talk to her about it. Told her some of the issues they would ask about and also told her if topic was something that made her uncomfortable, she could just skip over any question she wanted to.

I just looked at it and I'm like wtf? What's the point of this? How easy is it for kids to just lie on it? I probably would have lied on it if I had to take it. I hate this kind of crap. So stupid.

Our MS was very sloppy. Didn't keep good track of who was opted out. Tried to make a case for doing the survey to children whose parents had opted them out. It just wasn't handled well at all.
To me the worse part wasn't the survey, it was the lack of professionalism.

I remember taking that. I hadn't heard of a lot of drugs until I took that survey, and honestly it piqued my curiosity about drugs and alcohol which resulted in a few rough years. My kids won't be taking it.

I am so mad that I missed the opt-out deadline for my 6th grader last year (and was too much of a ruleist to try to ask after the deadline). My child is very socially naive and the things mentioned in that survey have continued to worry her.
