It is a great idea. We saved tons, because my DH drank at least a case of Pellegrino weekly.

Also, you people claiming it is too expensive should also consider your carbon footprint. Shipping? Packaging? So wasteful!

Yes - it's always at your home (you never run out), you can make them as fizzy as you want, and no more bottles to deal with.

The people complaining about it's "business practices" (I.e. they are made in Israel) are ridiculous - I'm pretty sure most of what you are wearing is made by slave-like labor, the fabrics in your home (towels, rugs), slave labor. The food you eat? Mostly by low wage farm hands. Lastly, MANY, MANY Americans go without sick or vacation days or fair wages or guaranteed hours (Starbucks, anyone?). Whole Foods has awful health insurance coverage - bet no one balks at that.

Soda stream is just an easy target. If you think you'll use it and it'll help reduce the number of bottles you throw away, then go for it.

Exactly. We didn't buy generic 2 liter. Just the 1 liters. In any case, it's worth not lugging all those around.

No. It barely saves money, with the high cost of refills. I did the math and the machine will pay for itself in something like 100 years, as compared to buying generic 2 liter bottles of seltzer. the sodastream bottles do not contain BPA. They are not dishwasher safe, however.

What is the difference between seltzer and sparkling water? Can sodastream handle both?

How does it taste compared to store bought? Vintage is my favorite

Yes. We just make seltzer from water in it and that's all. Totally worth it, plus it takes up less space (more counter space but much less storage space).

We love our soda stream. I didn't crunch the numbers, but I am pretty sure we save money by using it. We drink a lot of sparkling water; never use it for regular soda. I like the convenience of it and the reusable bottles.

I drink 1-2 liters of seltzer a day (clearly, I love the stuff). They're about 50c a bottle when I buy in bulk, would I end up saving money with a SS or not really ?
