Yes I agree - just one week. 3 weeks is too long.

A week is my limit for any cooked meat stored in the fridge - after that it goes in the garbage. Less than a week (maybe 3 days) if I cooked the meat close to its sell-by date (e.g. chicken breasts that were in my fridge for 5 days before I cooked them). I don't like wasting food either, but do you really want to take the chance? Better to throw it out than end up sick for a few days!

I Found in my fridge a large Tupperware with meat sauce for pasta that I made 3 weeks ago. I was going to throw it out, but it smells good, could it be ok to eat?
I was going to use it within a couple of days but then I forgot about it and ended up in a corner in the fridge.
If it smells good, does it mean it is good?

I make this about once a month with ground beef and fresh vegetables and then use some and freeze some.
