We got this:

And a matching shelf to hang keys, etc. I haven't found the perfect baskets to put in the cubbies, we just shove our shoes in and it works well for us.

Not the OP but we keep our shoes stored in the entryway and they don't smell. Why do your shoes smell so bad?!

People who wear their shoes all the time have smelly shoes and don't understand that those of us who take our shoes off when we get home don't have stinky shoes (they stink from the sweat).

I struggled with the same thing. I got a piece of furniture from Nadeau in Georgetown and used bins from the Container Store on the lower shelf. I wanted something that hid the shoes but was easily accessible. It's working reasonably well. If someone would ever make those Ikea flip out storage units out of real wood, I would have bought those in a heartbeat. Nadeau is pretty reasonable and at least the furniture isn't pressboard.

homedecorators.com and look at entry storage. overstock.com also has tons of storage benches and storage ottomans that may work.

Wonder why this is so expensive for fake wood. I would love something like this in real wood. -np

Looking for something like the cube toy storage we use in the kid's room (closemaid cubeicals/ ikea kallax type of thing) that can accommodate shoe storage in fabric drawers in the entryway. We keep a lot of shoes there; we are messy and need to keep them contained. All the fabric boxes/cube storage units I see are too small for a 13" shoe. Ideas? The space we have for this is 44" w x 29" h.
