why are you asking permission? you don't want to go. Reason #1 is enough. I think the better question is why you felt the need to list 5 reasons to complete strangers and ask if it was okay.

Don't go, OP. Stay home and have the Christmas you want.

I'm not even pregnant, but I'm not going home either.

You are definitely excused. I'm sure they don't expect you to sleep on twin mattresses, etc., and instead would be fine with you getting a hotel room. But 7 months pregnant with a 2-year-old + marital tension = free pass!

Of course it's ok. You are pregnant.

That's a lot on your plate, OP. Of course you don't have to go. Do something that you will enjoy with your 2 year old.

You are definitely excused.

Cozy up for some quality time with your little family of soon to be four and try to have some relaxed time together.

You are excused. Encourage your husband to go visit his family at Christmas, and just stay home and enjoy the best holiday ever!

OP here. Yep, not an accident either. But I'll save those details for another thread!

Your husband and you have not gotten along for years and you are 7 months pregnant?

Don't go. But when you explain why, just refer to #1 on your list.

Reason I don't want to visit my family:

1. I'll be 7 months pregnant so flying and driving will be extra uncomfortable. Trip would be 2 hour flight followed by 4 hour car ride.

2. My brother and his wife are bringing their lab. My 2 year old is terrified of dogs.

3. They don't have enough beds for us. My brother and his wife will be sleeping in the queen bed that was his. That leaves one twin guest bed and one twin mattress in what was my room. "My" mattress is 30 years old and very uncomfortable. My daughter is too big for a pack-and-play this year. So we are one bed short. I guess I could sleep on a couch but I'm betting that would be uncomfortable, especially while pregnant. Husband could sleep on the couch but I feel like he needs a space he can hide from my family when he needs a break.

4. My mother is getting on my nerves. She is critical and controlling and I don't want to be around her. Also, she isn't any help with my 2 year old. My dad is just kind of there.

5. My husband and I are not getting along (for years but especially bad the last few months).

So am I excused or still obligated to go?
