What is the procedure for applying palm or coconut oil to hair? You put it on before washing ? Do you saturate your hair with it and then wash it off? Or do you put on a few drops to dry hair and then style from there. Thanks!

Coconut oil is supposed to contain a super protein for hair, but I couldn't stand that smell either.

you should try other coconut oils. Some have little to no smell.

Interesting, thanks PP and others. Which brands do you recommend then? I just bought the tub of coconut oil at Whole Foods.
Or was it perhaps a bad batch?

Mine is the whole foods one in the glass jar. No smell (or taste) at all - and I like the smell of coconut so I was kind of hoping it smelled a bit!

I use coconut oil plus a few drops of olive oil; my hair just smells like my shampoo.

coconut oil is awesome and smell only last for a short time. Unless you use too much!

I may have to shampoo again. I can't stand the smell. Thanks.

Try coconut oil next time. You'll smell like piƱa colada at least!

I can't think of anything BUT I have to think by tomorrow morning the smell will be almost gone. If your hair looks that great you may have to endure the smell for a bit

I tried a pre-shampoo palm oil hair treatment. I love how silky and manageable my hair feels, but the "fried food" smell lingers. Other than shampooing with a clarifier (and thus undoing all the good work), what can I do to make the smell dissipate before work tomorrow?
