I have the Threshold basic desk from target that I got on sale and with a coupon for like 65 bucks. Here is a link to their online selection, they have a decent amount of choices that are affordable.

I'm not the OP, but I am also looking for desk ideas and, so, clicked on this thread.

I have been searching yard sales and thrift stores because I don't want to/can't pay more than $100 right now, but I appreciated the Crate & Barrel links for ideas of what I might look for, or even what I might spend a little more on at Ikea or Office Max.

The printer could go on top and the laptop sits on the drop down desk. (In this model, the drawers don't lock.)

Or you could go with something like this:

and get a small rolling file drawer that can lock.

I am trying to imagine what it is like to live in a world where paying $800-1k for a desk is a reasonable life choice.

I had a children's size desk for a long time, 24"x48". For a short time I had a smaller desk than that, but when I wanted a desk for my desktop (dual monitors), I chose a 5' desk. I also have a separate small table, 12"x18", for the printer.

Personally, I like table-style desks. If you need anything else, like a filing cabinet, you can get it separately and put it underneath.

What sizes is your space, and what do you need to put on it, besides a printer and laptop?

I need something fairly small (space is tight).
Maybe a corner desk but doesn't have to be.
Big enough for a laptop & printer
Would really like a file drawer (though a regular drawer is fine) that can be locked.
