There are definitely better options nearby. It's an old person's restaurant, for sure. We keep trying it, but...

We got married there, and it's lovely, just - there are better options.

Other good options are 8407 Kitchen Bar, Scion or Urban Butcher, all in downtown Silver Spring

Republic in Takoma Park is not only much better than Mrs. K's, it's a lot more fun. Great food and vibe.

We have been a couple of times because we live close by. I can't say I'd recommend it. I honestly think the food is better at Clyde's / Old Ebbitt, and Mrs. K's is not cheap. The menu is also limited. The last time we went I swore never again- nothing sounded all that appealing to me. When the food arrived, it was fine, but nothing special.

How dare elderly people have a chance to dine out and enjoy themselves!!

Jerk.

I saw nothing wrong with that (I'm not the PP). Some restaurants target elderly people as their clientele for that reason -- so they can go out and enjoy themselves also.

I'd add Pines of Rome in Bethesda as an elderly people joint.

I was very disappointed in Mrs. K's recently (went to the Sunday buffet).

15 years ago I had gone for dinner (fixed price menu) - loved it. I was sad that the buffet was so bad!

Based on what I have heard, if this is your 60th anniversary, it would be a perfect choice. For something else in Silver Spring that is a little more interesting, try Jackie's. They have a $45 four course chef's tasting menu.

It's actually a lot better than it was 30 years ago.

I have never been to Mrs. K's, but it was a go to restaurant for friend families 30 years ago. My husband suggested it for dinner for our anniversary and I asked if it was still a good restaurant. does anyone know?

I'd also take recommendations for where to go somewhere in close-in suburban Maryland all the way from Takoma Park west to Potomac or in downtown.

Thanks
