What say you?

My friends who raise chickens say that eggs can be left out unrefrigerated, but that is when they are fresh, so I don't know how long you can leave them out. From the time they are laid they are good for 2 weeks. If the room was room temperature I'm sure they are fine. Also depends on quality of the eggs.

Please ignore those who say to toss them. They are FINE! I've been in European countries where butter and eggs are left out for extended periods of time.

please calm down everyone.

But the article states:

"And when eggs are left at room temperature, salmonella can multiply quite rapidly, reaching dangerous levels within a matter of weeks."

I assume OP has now put the eggs in the fridge. So shouldn't they be okay if they are consumed today and over this week?

Wrong! you can use them. In many places they don't refrigerate eggs at all.

Although it is true that most places outside US don't refrigerate eggs, US requires eggs to be handled differently and apparently washes them which removes a protective layer. There was something on this on the Splendid Table program once (American Public Radio). That said, one night isn't going to make them go bad. You can google unrefridgerated eggs and you can read more about it.

I got home from the grocery store around 8 last night. Somehow the eggs didn't make it into the fridge.... they landed on the dining room table (don't ask). Just saw them now. I am so mad. Can we still use them or toss? I know in Europe they don't necessarily refrigerate eggs at home.
