I definitely see better results from *some* salon products. Personally, I love Pureology and happily shell out $$ for it because of the results. Hair is soft, not dry or oil (and my hair tries to be both at the same time!), and preserves color. But not every "salon" product will work well for every woman. A lot of drugstore products dry out my hair and strip the color. If you've found one that works for you, I'd stick with it. But if you don't love your shampoo, keep shopping around.

Yes, but...
...the salon version will probably be more concentrated. My favorite shampoo/conditioner recently had been the Bed Bath and Beyond generic of Nexxus. Works well, costs what I need from a daily use product, etc.

Salon stuff also tends to have strong scents, but drugstore lines seem to be trending that way, too.

Nexxus is terrible anyway.

I bought a salon detangling product for my daughter and it is the best I have ever used. My stylist has turned me on to a few products that work really well with my curly frizzy hair. I still use drugstore shampoo and conditioner though.

Drugstore or ulta. I do love fancy brand shampoo like phyto for my oily hair. I just do no paraben and no sulfite stuff and find it works just fine.

Get a good book from library on cosmetics. It will explain ingredients . A salon product has same ingredients as drug store.

I get the matrix product that works wonders on my dry hair at target or cvs. I have bought a bunch of "organic" product my old hairdresser pushed and it is meh. The matrix products work so much better for me.

I use salon hair spray and it is much better than store. Everything else is drugstore

No way. I let a salon talk me into buying bumble & bumble. Then while staying at a friends house forgot to bring it and borrowed her drugstore brand. Bigger bottle, half the cost, worked better. Btwn that and coconut oil I'll probably never buy any salon stuff again.

About 14 years ago I switched from drugstore brand shampoo and conditioner to salon bc I noticed a difference. However I got a rec on this forum for drugstore brands that are just as good as salon. I've only recently used the drugstore brands so too soon to tell if my hair will have more split ends or not but so far I'm a convert.

My sister is a hairdresser and owns a salon so of course she is quite prejudiced on this.

She only uses professional salon products on her hair while I use store bought shampoo, conditioner and styling gels and mousses, etc.

I have tried her Nexxus and other name brand items, but honestly saw no huge difference except for the price tag.

She however insists that professional salon products are much better for your hair due to their high quality solid ingredients.

What about you? Do you guys notice a difference in your hair when you use a salon product vs. a drugstore one?
