so true. My little five year old gas bag was stinking up the car yesterday. I think it started abating at 3-4 months, but around 4 weeks was the worst! Try bicycle movements with the legs to relieve pressure....

2 months was the worst I think. By 3-4 months it settles down. You can try gas drops or the leg bicycles if he's uncomfortable.

My second definitely went through a gassy stage in the first 2 months, but around 3 1/2 months or so (now 5 months) he seems to have less.

Wish I could remember when this ended with our first, but we're at almost five weeks with #2 and in the throes of this. I seem to recall that it peaks at six weeks and generally is supposed to end around twelve weeks (end of the "fourth trimester") but I can't remember if that's what actually happened with DC1. Definitely keep trying on the burping, though, as that does help if you can get some of the air out that way first. We go back and forth from over-the-shoulder burping (pat back, jiggle up and down, pat back again) to on-the-knee burping (sit baby on knee and lean him forward with his chin in your hand and then pat or rub his back). Different ways are more successful at different points, for whatever reason. Good luck--hang in there!

My baby is almost 4 weeks. He's generally a very easy baby I think, although I don't have much experience. He has episodes where his stomach gets really tight and he twists and turns and eventually farts machine-gun style and stinks the room up, then he's happy baby again. I know this is just something that infants go through, but when did it end for you? I do try to burp him after every feeding, but it's rare that he burps for me.
