Yes, this is how it is in our neighborhood. Most just have a witch's hat or the like on.

You could be the Count.

Or get a turtleneck and a v-neck sweater and be Bert. Maybe you could find an adult-size Ernie sweater. That would be awesome!

Or make a cardboard cylinder, spray-paint it silver and tape some garbage to the outside, get a green wig, and be Oscar.

OP here, ha perhaps I vented a bit too hard. I'm not stressed out just a little annoyed by the lack of options for normal women Halloween costumes. Like pp said, why can't she just be a doctor and not a slutty doctor? I by no means am so bothered by this that I'm going to stay home. Just wish it was as easy as it has been for DH and DS. Go to one online store, buy costumes. Not as easy for me.
I will take pps idea though and look at some guy costumes. Kind of "duh" now that I think about it!!

OP here. Can I hire you? I wish I had the ability to come up with creative costumes but a yellow dress with feather boas is the extent of my creativity!

And my parents will be there handing out candy. They don't get trick or treaters where they live so practically begged us! Plus, I'd go out half naked and suck it up before I stayed home and missed out on trick or treating with DS and DH. I'm just annoyed I can't easily find something like I can for DH or DS.

I wouldn't worry too much about what "neighbors say." I'm sure there are some families who do group costumes, but if everyone did that, there would be nobody home to answer the door for trick-or-treaters. It sounds like this is stressing you out too much. I'd forget trying to do a costume and just enjoy walking around the neighborhood with your two-year-old who is in a costume.

This is why I don't buy costumes; I always create my own. Your son can be Elmo; you can be any number of characters from Sesame Street. Your costume doesn't have to be professional.

But why don't you just do something super simple, like pin laundry to your normal clothes and call yourself clean laundry; or wear a pair of bee antennas and black and yellow, or whatever? I can't imagine all the adults go ALL-out.
Please don't stay in and hide, though, because you don't like your thighs. If you wind up doing that like 1014 suggests, I would suggest seeing someone about your body image issues.

Hi all, this is just a total vent.

This is our first Halloween with 2 year old DS (lived out of the country last year) and we also just moved to a wonderful neighborhood where neighbors say whole family dresses up and trick or treats and there are also a couple of parties. DH is loving the idea of a family costume and DS wants to either be Elmo or a turtle (he liked the teenage ninja costume we saw).

I however could stand to lose about 15 pounds, pretty much all in my horribly untoned thighs and hips. Still recovering from double knee surgery and my thighs look awful.

On to my vent...why are ALL costumes for women incredibly short?! And if I look for a plus size costume (which I need anyways because I have H boobs) they are either still short or ridiculously expensive for something I'll wear one (like $80). I'm just getting frustrated that I keep having to poo poo ideas because I can't find anything for me to wear. At this point I think I'm going to have to make my own big bird costume with a yellow dress and feather boas.
