...It was revealed on Wednesday that Matthew also has a long list of previous charges against him - from assault and grand larceny to trespassing and being in possession of stolen property.

Online court records showed that Matthew was convicted of trespassing in 2010 but provide no details about the incident.

He also faces a slew of traffic violations, according to WSLS.

In June 2009, Matthew allegedly assaulted someone during an attempted theft of a cell phone but the charges were later dropped.

Yes, cry for him -- the poor pitiful black man.

All this sympathy for this guy. He abducted a young girl who has never been seen again. Then he is caught at the border. But we should all feel sorry for him.

Just my theory... I don't peg JM as an intentional murderer... I mean, he has a job, and apartment, involvement in the community. My theory is that he gave her a mickey, it crashed her respiratory system that was already depressed b/c of alcohol or something that had been given to her earlier in the night (perhaps another mickey) and the drug killed her. I think JM may have intended to rape HG while she was under the influence, but I just don't peg him for being a guy who set out to kill someone. He doesn't seem angry-at-life or angry-at-people enough to be an intentional killer (based on the history that has been reported).

Once she died, he disposed of her.

If he did play a role in killing her (intentionally or unintentionally), I hope he is convicted and gets the full amount of jail. What a terrible loss for the world not to have a woman like HG in it.

They just got him!!! So relieved. He made it all the way to Texas. Probably headed for the border.

I was at LSU during Derek Todd Lee and we were all very surprised he was black. Slight difference-- we'd known for a couple of years that women were murdered and missing, and during that time media had been referring to the suspect as a serial killer.

I think they have her on camera getting into his car.

What is the rational for charging him with abduction? Are they relying too much on the fact that cameras caught him as the last person to have contact, which is just circumstantial? Was she seen getting in his car? I am not clear on this. What about the apartment search? DNA link?
