There are probably a lot of other willing to take that 14. If you don't want it, then step aside.

You applied for a fulltime position, have enough work to fill the fulltime slot but want to go back to part-time after three months. Don't see how this would work.

You applied for a full time position? I don't understand how that equates to you were told you had to return to full time...you chose to apply to a full time position.

So you applied for a full time position 2.5 months ago and now want to see if your new boss will let you go part time?

Any chance you know another 14 with similar qualifications that's looking to go part-time? If so, I'd suggest proposing a job share. But that likely means you're both working 20 hours/week - are you ok with that? (Another option is a 16/24 split.)

Otherwise, if your boss indicated she needs to staff the position full-time, I guess you need to look elsewhere or see if you can return to your prior job?

14? really, which agency, it seems very hard to be promoted to 14 where I work.

OP here: yes, competition. I applied.

You were promoted to a 14 with no competition? Did you apply for the position?

Hi - I was promoted in June to a 14 and told I had to return to full-time work. That's not in any policy, more of a reflection of the needs and wants of my new division and my new boss.
