So sorry about your miscarriage. I would definitely do acupuncture but I would also get yourself quickly to an RE. An RE can help investigate and may recommend drugs and/or monitoring for your next cycle to get ovulation back on track (if needed). However, it takes time to get started with an RE because there are a number of hoops you need to jump through first with blood tests and what not. It can't hurt to get the ball rolling with that now even if you continue to see your previous doctor.

I second the recommendation for acupuncture, honestly. And I'm no new age/alternative medicine enthusiast. I was given medicine to induce a miscarriage on July 4 (after waiting a few weeks for my body to do it naturally). Have bleed on and off since then but no real period, with zero help from multiple trips to the ob/gyn over the past 3 months. Gillian Powers at Crossings has gotten my cycle back on track and I honestly don't know what I would have done without her help. Call her immediately.

Around 36 my periods started getting lighter and I asked my gyno and she said that was normal for my age. One of the few perks.

Because of your age, I'd go straight to an RE. Hopefully, there won't be any issues but at least you'll know. If you go to your regular dr and there is a problem, you will have wasted several precious cycles.

So sorry for your loss, OP. I had a similar problem with my periods after a miscarriage at 5 weeks-- really surprised that such a short pregnancy could throw me out of whack for several months.

Temp to get a clearer read on whether you are ovulating. The light periods are a bad sign but they don't necessarily mean you aren't ovulating. Have you been tested for anemia recently?

I went in for labs but the OB had no idea what was wrong. Ultimately I think a lot of my problem was anxiety, and physical depletion from the miscarriage. Taking really good care of myself helped, but acupuncture is what really turned it around.

I did end up having a D&C after the natural miscarriage was a somewhat dramatic fail. Because of the comments I read on DCUM and other places, I followed up with a hysteroscopy to make sure there was no scarring. There actually was some minor scarring partially blocking a tube and the doctor removed it. Otherwise, all looked fine.

To the other poster, the doctor advised that I wait for three cycles. We had a lengthy discussion about my age versus the data on miscarriage if you get pregnant "too soon." He didn't seem to think that the data on miscarriage before the three cycle wait are terribly significant but suggested we wait nonetheless. As it turns out, I wasn't emotionally ready to try again that soon anyway.

I am sorry to hear about your miscarriage. I too had one at 14 weeks as well, awful. How long did your dr say to wait before TTC? I understand not wanting to go back to dr but i think i might call them and mention light periods and see what dr says. GL

I would do a month of temping to get an idea if you are ovulating but because of the light periods i would still go to the doctor.

I still get some menstrual cramps and also feel like I'm getting ovulation cramps mid cycle. The "periods" themselves are fairly regular - 28-30 day cycles. But, what's up with the light periods? Does that mean no ovulation? No lining? Yes, I know I should go to the doctor but I kinda dread entering that place now. It's not a place of happy memories. I'm closing in on 40 so perimenopause?
