I am the husband. As I mention, we do get time alone, we like that time, but it's not usually planned. For when we're not alone, we enjoy our children's company.

HA HA you are really funny! What is a date night? Maybe a few years ago at best. Honestly I cannot remember. We do have plans in a few weeks for our anniversary. That will be the first one in years.

Went out for breakfast together this weekend. Went on a week long no kids vacation this summer. If there is something we want to do or a restaurant we want to try, we make it happen.

We don't have set date nights, but on average once a month there is an event (party, concert, dinner, wine tasting, whatever), that we attend kid-free. Plus once in a while we just get a sitter to catch a movie we both want to see.

Last month. My in-laws were in town for a few nights and they suggested we go out one night. But before that, it was probably several months. I think we actually are going to institute a monthly date night because otherwise it just doesn't happen. We spend lots of time together--kids go to bed at 7:30 or 8 and we go to bed around 10:30. Most nights, we spend that time together. Occasionally DH has to work (from home) or rarely one of us goes out with friends, but we usually spend that time together. We just don't get out much. A lot of it is money. Adding the cost of a babysitter to dinner and maybe a movie or something out makes for an expensive night.

So for those of you who don't have a set weekly, biweekly, monthly date night...when was your last time? I'm talking a real date night, at least 2 hours of fun time that you chose to do with or without friends...but please don't count obligatory things like weddings, school events, or work events. For us, it was June. Just wondering how normal that is. We go out maybe 3 times a year (try for both birthdays, anniversary, haven't gone out for Valentine's Day since the kids were born), which seems like much less than our peers who look at us like we are nuts. So...how about you?
