I have had great luck at White House Black Market. Great quality and lots of different kinds of fits (including short inseam) and you can usually get two pairs for the price of one at Bloomingdales.

Honestly, I like the INC jeans at Macy's. They have a variety of fits and styles, and they're not expensive.

Oh, and there is a tailor right outside of Bloomies at Tysons (cant remember if upper or lower level) that can shorten the jeans for you for like $20 - possibly same day if you go early. You will probably need them shortened.

Bloomingdales. All the "in" jeans are in the same area and in your price range and a sales associate will help you pick. I'm crossing my fingers for you that they aren't all late 80's/early 90's-ish.

OP, is Denim Bar still around? I have had good luck at the Friendship Heights Bloomies, too. I always try Nordstrom Rack, TJ Maxx first, then cross over to MD if I am striking out.
