I went to an allergist for something else and she heard my wheezing and prescribed me Pulmicort, which fixed my situation. She told me that I may have a sensitivity and thus develop mild asthma when I get upper respiratory infections. So, in my case, I guess cold can trigger some mild form of asthma and I need the inhaled steroids to get everything under control. I took the Pulmicort twice a day for a week both times my colds morphed into this odd situation and was fine.
Same for me. I was diagnosed with asthma at 35, but it only flairs up if I get sick.
