I would try Bearnaise on Capitol Hill.

Medium Rare--two adults and one 5yo, and two servings plus an extra plate is the right amount of food. (Then we split the ice-cream sundae.)

OP has two children who like it. I've gotta think that any place that serves steak and frites will split it into two portions. Some might charge an extra $2 or $4, which should be fine.

The preparation on the steak frites at Mon Ami Gabi or another French restaurant is quite different from the prep on a steak and fries at a restaurant that serves American cuisine. It also sounds like the OP wants a child's portion.

Medium rare will split a serving between two kids.
82 steak out in Rockville.
Mussel bar will also split for kids.

You can always go to medium rare no kids menu but the steak frites are amazing.

Both my kids love steak frites. Mon Ami has this on the kids menu but I would love to know other restaurants in MoCo and DC that offer this on the kids menu. Merci
