I don't know about you, but when I do this, I look like an insane person/Alfalfa from the Little Rascals in the morning. Cowlicks and tangles everywhere. I inevitably have to rewet it almost completely in the a.m. and blow it dry.
It works for me because I have thick heavy hair.

Another thing that looks good on me is side bangs. I smooth the rest of my hair into a Gibson roll (easy!) or a bun and then flatiron just my side bangs. Make sure you're using spin pins for the buns. Definitely helps them stay in.
