Depends on the class of "lady" you're looking for. Completely impractical.

No. Wait! You said "car" not "coat". Never mind!

I have a civic too and don't even need snow tires. It's geared really low, so with front wheel drive and manual transmission it's like a little tank. Only problem is if the snow is too deep for clearance, but you would need an SUV to solve that problem. I'm a nurse and have never had an issue getting to work in snowstorms.

You can get a new base model Subaru forester or crosstrek for 22k or under.

Only a few dollars more than regular tires.

To the OP I recommend looking at any car with front wheel drive. That and snow tires is more than enough for a DC-area winter.

Snow tires make a big difference. I lived in upstate NY a few years ago and my Saturn sedan was sliding all over the place in the snow. I got a set of snow tires and was shocked at how much better it was.

You could look at an older Volvo wagon at that price point. In lieu of getting AWD, you could consider putting on snow tires for the winter months. We drive just fine around here without AWD, but if you're further out, you have to consider your local roads and how often they get cleared.

Subaru Legacies have AWD and would fit your price point (if you want it fully loaded you would have to buy used). If you want an SUV, the Hyundai Santa Fe is amazing in the snow.

Anything with 4wd or AWD is going to get worse gas mileage than a 2WD vehicle. Both of the above are okay on gas. The Subaru would be more reliable.

Im scared of driving on the snow, I need a car with 4wd/awd that gets decent mpg and is reliable. I can only spend 22k max tyty
