DD had this at 2 at CNMC. Surgery not a big deal; she was fine and playing later in the day, did not even want Tylenol. Results were excellent although she still wears glasses for farsightedness.

We've had this once and are prepared for the possibility that we'll need to do it again as DD gets older. The recovery is much faster than you'd expect. We are with Dr. Plotsky and he has been great.

and she's not wearing glasses. 20/20 in the crossing eye and 20/30 in the other. We were so afraid her crossing eye was going to turn off since she was already 5. Her eye crossed at 3.5 spontaneously one day.

my daugher was just 5. She was alert in the recovery room at Hopkins. She could have gone to school the next day. She felt fine. Her eyes were a little red for over a week but she bounced back so quickly. Dr. Repka said she could go to the school the next day. Drops every day for the week after surgery. We wore glasses for a month after surgery. We never had to patch again. Her eyes are straight. We had it done in Feb. 2014. We just told her that the doctor was going to put her to sleep for a rest and that he was going to straighten her eyes. The staff was so good and it was easy. We slept in Baltimore the night before b/c we had to report at 5:45 am and it was a predicted blizzard.

op here. thanks for the replies. Our DD is 4.5 yrs, and also trying to get a sense of how to prepare her for what she's going to be experiencing (and any potential side effects) our doctor said it's really a quick recovery (like 3 days), which surprised me.

We really loved Dr. Kern. I was a hysterical mess and she calmed me down. DD is fine now, a year after the surgery

My child's first surgery at age 3 was not successful. It was re done 6 years later successfully. He has good control now.

Fabulous result with Dr. Repka at Wilmer's eye institute at Hopkins. He's a great surgeon and very experienced. The standards at Hopkins for cleanliness are very good. The eye center is a separate building. It went very well. We had a very early morning appt.
