I don't think my in-laws like my parents and it doesn't bother me. They don't live in the same town anyway so we would never have a reason for everyone to be together.

I thought it was normal for in-laws to not be friends. It's nice if they're friendly with one another but I have known of other friends' in-laws who avoid seeing each other.

4 times in 13 years. Or 5 if you count the rehearsal dinner and wedding as separate times.

They live on opposite coasts and my parents aren't too keen on my ILs.

I don't know, it sounds like they interact a lot for not getting along. My mother and MIL do not communicate at all.

Special events, as others have said. MIL and my mom do not get along at all, and both fathers are extremely introverted. They are pleasant to each other when they see each other but they have nothing in common besides the grandchildren

They met for dinner when we were engaged when my future in-laws were visiting family near my parents. The mothers saw each other a my two showers. They saw each other during the rehearsal and wedding. Other than that, I don't think they saw each other. They lived in different states and we lived in a third. I suppose they would have seen each other more if we had all lived in the same general area.

I find it strange that people think that everyone will have the same experience as they have.

Only at special events--our wedding, our children's baptisms and other important religious events, etc. So, once every few years.

But our parents don't live anywhere near each other. Both sets live on the west coast--one in the San Diego area and the other in the Sacramento area.

Big events. When we lived near them we would hold one joint family event a year. The ILs stress me out, but they're not bad people and we make an effort.

Mil always invites mine to tgiving or Xmas when we are spending it with her every other year- my parents politely decline each year. They think she's nice enough (I guess), but has the tendency to come off as snobbish and judgy. Not a lot in common tgere besides my being her daughter in law.

Only At major milestone events (our wedding, kids baptisms). They get along fine, but live 3 or 4 hours apart and don't have much in common.

OP here. I always find it so strange that people have parents that have never met their in laws.

How often do they see each other if ever?
My parents have passed away but they would generally see my inlaws at my place about 3 times a year.
At times they would have each other over at their homes, but that was rare.
