Do you know what kind of shrubs you have? Some do not take kindly to that sort of trimming.

HA! OP here. I will look for a picture. Basically, I like the clean, flat, sculpted look of bushes that the landscapers make. But they have chainsaws. When I try to sculpt or shoe the bushes myself (not into shapes, just into a clean look), all the branches are of slightly different heights. I'm not looking for a meticulous look, just an easier way to give the shrubs and bushes and uniformed shape look. I'm not sure that makes sense.

New homeowner here. Dh and I are excited to do our own mowing and trimming but we have a lot of bushes that need trimming. I tried to do it with shears but of course it's hard to get it looking level. I priced electric saw trimmers at Home Depot and they seemed expensive (plus not so safe to have with little kids around, even though it would be locked in a shed). Is there a product or method I'm missing? I'd love to get a clean look and don't want to hire a service. Thanks.
