NP here. I did 1 and 2 with curtains from West Elm, grommet top. They are at least 1.5x the width of the window so I have extra width for fullness. Still, they never look nice like the ones done by professionals. We do use them often (pulling them open/closed). Is it possible to have nice looking FUNCTIONAL curtains, or do I just need to not use them for them to look good?

pp here. Grommet top isn't very nice. I prefer the rings that hook onto curtains. I've looked at West Elm curtains before. They were cheap material, not thick and not lined.

All of my curtains are functional (except for my stationary ones in dining room) and I don't have trouble opening and closing them. I generally leave them open most of the time and just shut my blinds though.

Grommet tops are not as nice as other styles. That is probably the first problem.

i had mine made through Color Wheel in McLean. It can be affordable depending on the fabric you choose.

Anyone have a good source for good quality drapes that hang well but don't cost a fortune? Is it better to have them made?
