You are right about the restrictions/regulations. I'm a teacher education student and we are learning all about this right now. A lot of it is because of education legislation, and because of the sol tests, and "education reform". Your rating seems to be pretty accurate.

We are in FCPS grade school. I wish I had more time to volunteer in the classroom so I would be more aware of what is happening. We are in MoCo public, 1st grade and....I don't know where I stand right now. Not overjoyed, maybe a 4?
Fairfax county, 3rd grade, boy. Just attended back to school night last night and was really impressed with my son's teacher's presentation about the curriculum and her teaching style. She seems so down to earth and logical. I'm excited for my son this year and this is a first. (I loved his second grade teacher too, but this teacher seemed like she is the PERFECT fit for my son!)
My opinion of FCPS is about 5.
My opinion of my sons school is a 2 or 3.
My opinion of the teachers my son had had at his school are a 1 or 2!
We came to this school last year after moving here from Maryland. I was a lot less happy with the school in Maryland for my sons first two years. That school was bad.
And to the pp saying for OP to come back in ten years, wtf? Why shouldn't she have an opinion? Every year is important.

OP - people are confused with your scale.
Usually, 10 is the best, 1 lowest. You did it the other way around.

Lack of recess time - 8 (esp. in winter, but that's not the school's fault)
Teachers - 3 (so far most have been great)

My children are in MCPS and I'm pretty happy. Maybe 8 or 9. There are some problems, but then I don't expect perfection in anything in this imperfect world.

Daughter is a junior in the science and tech program at Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Greenbelt. Absolutely love the school, but it doesn't get a 10 because the homework load is too intense.
