Omg, yes, the post-miscarriage night sweats! I am not AMA, so it seemed awfully early for hot flashes, and I was really freaking out that something was wrong with me. Felt much better after acupuncture so I stuck with it despite the expense, and got pregnant a few weeks after starting weekly acupuncture.

Don't know if it has "worked" yet, as in helped me to get pregnant, but 3.5 months ago I had a miscarriage and nothing seemed to regulate me afterwards (yes, I'm AMA). After ONE session with Gillian Powers, I had my first regular period. I get it. It could be completely unrelated and would have happened anyway. But have waiting 3.5 months and getting nothing but irregular bleeding (no real period; no ovulation), it sure seemed more than coincidental. The session also just made me feel... just...normal again. Even good. Also, no more problems with other odd, slightly annoying things I'd been dealing with (constipation; night sweats; always feeling cold). These aren't things that I ever would have gone to a Dr for, but they also cleared up after acupuncture. I've continued to see her while I try to conceive naturally again. She's gentle, well-informed, and it can't hurt to try. Give it 4-6 treatments and decide for yourself.

Deb Earley in Dupont. She's wonderful and she also helped get my insurance to cover it. I always feel light-years better after my treatment. Of course it's hard to prove causality, but I definitely think she helped me get pregnant after the havoc wreaked by my MC.

Zoe Brenner at Crossings in Dupont Circle.

I went to Gillian (?) At Crossings in silver spring. I had no known issues, but she did the trick.... LOVE her!

You can search the board for recommendations. I go to Deb Earley and I'm loving it.

I love acupuncture. My take is that it can't hurt and you won't have any side effects like you will with other forms of western medicine.

Personally I love acupuncture, it really relaxes me and makes me feel great. Just make sure you are going to a fertility specialist acupuncturist, rather than a generalist. It really is different-- after one session I definitely feel more energetic and healthier. Not pregnant yet but it's only been a few weeks!

Bit of background, I'm 42 and have one child. Been trying for 1.75 years for another; one miscarriage earlier this year. Ovulation days are all over the place--anywhere from day 9 to day 17. Currently in a mix of western and natural medicine treatments. Hypothyroidism is being closely monitored and treated; otherwise I'm apparently healthy as can be... I just feel like time is running out and want to do what I can to optimize chances of another healthy pregnancy.

I started when I was 39 and went 2-3 times a week for two years ish. Simultaneous to about 5 IVF treatments. None worked for me.

I felt like it would have bee n more helpful if I "just " needed to regulate my cycle and "strengthen" my uterus. If that were the case it also would have worked better had I been younger, because they want you to put months and moths of treatment in BEFORE you turn to IVF, which is NOT possible if you are AMA. I was also dealing with age and rapidly declining egg quality and it does nothing for that. I wouldn't say I don't believe in it but it did not really help me. I only went because it was covered by insurance for me.

That said I did enjoy it and it did relax me. I would say pre natal Pilates, yoga and a strict healthy fertility diet probably made a bigger impact on my overall health. Good luck.
