You must be old, many intelligent students stay close in to gain work experience from gmu's many sponsoring tech companies.

At our high school there's a clear order from most to least selective

I've only lived in the area for 5 yrs but I have never even heard of CNU!? I assume it is part of the state system? I did realize that GMU has made strides in the last decade or so but I would still assume that VT is the most competitive of the 3.

GMU is now slightly less harder than vt , things have changed a lot at gmu in the last 20 years.

DS applied to all three, got into GMU only. We knew VT was a stretch, but thought CNU was relatively easy to get into. Not the case apparently.

Other than engineering, you will probably get just about same level of education from both schools. VT is a national univ whereas GMU is more of a regional univ so it gets less exposure outside of DC area, IMHO. This difference (national vs regional) matters a lot to some, matters none to others.

For a kid from this area, there's no doubt that VT is most selective. But check your naviance for proof.

Um VT. Is this a joke?

I have no affiliation with either school, but GMU and VT have similar critical reading scores (gmu 520-630 vs. vt 530-630) while vt is higher in math (580-680 vs 530-630). Gmu admits a somewhat smaller percentage of applicants (62% vs 70%). I wonder if VT's numbers are skewed because they are much more selective in certain areas such as engineering, while other divisions might be easier to get into?
