+1. I'll bring a Riesling or Viognier.

I would add guacamole as well as the queso. I even like dipping my veggies in salsa, queso or guacamole.

LOL. This menu is the simplest, most basic menu, and looks delicious. I'm sure picky eaters will be okay.

OP here. What is unsuitable for picky eaters? And are they ever satisfied anyway?

I can't think of anything simpler than fruit, veggies, dips, cheese and crackers....

This looks delicious! I'd be thrilled if someone invited us and served this.

We're vegetarian and these are my two favorite chili recipes:

Picky eaters almost always eat tortilla chips - so no worries there.

Op - your menu looks delicious. Enjoy!

Basic green salad. So folks can make a taco salad with the chili. What about spaghetti-for Cincinnati style chili?

Dessert...if you need more, something plain and easy like a pound cake and fresh fruit.

Add sweet picket relish to the toppings list

I always thought I was the only crazy one putting pickles in my chili. Then I brought a jar to a work chili pot luck. The entire jar was used!!!

Looks good - I love salad so I could see a basic green salad plus cole slaw. Some people put chili on top of salad even.

For a casual fall party. Everyone is good friends, there for the company moreso than the food -- so Endive Lady, please keep your comments to yourself.

Veggie chili (open to recipe suggestions here)
White bean and chicken chili, medium spicy
Cornbread
Tortilla chips
Salsas
Chili toppings -- onions, jalapeno, cilantro, cheese, sour cream, avocado, hot sauce
Salad -- open to suggestions. Maybe a crunchy, vinegar-based slaw of some kind? Can't see myself serving Caesar or a wedge with chili....
Crudite (doesn't "go" with chili, but everyone likes it, plus want something cold, fresh, crunchy)
Fruit, depending on what looks decent at that time. If all else fails, a few bunches of grapes with a couple different cheeses and crackers.
Pumpkin cheesecake squares
Chocolate chip cookies

Plenty of beer, wine and booze....
