If you can remember where you worked and that place is still in business you could contact HR there to get records. Most companies keep employee records even after they leave.

I usually upload a Word document resume to USAJOBS; it does not list supervisors and their phone numbers. Dates are month-year.

I think on USA Jobs it will ask 10 years back (don't quote me though). I had a lot of crappy jobs when I lived in the Midwest and a lot of the companies have closed or got bought out. There is no way to trace some of my jobs.

Not OP but there is a company called TheWorkNumber that is operated by Equifax that tracks this information including dates worked and salary earned. While not every company provides information to them the vast majority of them do so yeah, there is someone tracking this information.

Ok, that makes sense, OP. Social security and the IRS knows where you worked if the employer reports to them. But I don't know if you can just ask them for a record.

Do you have tax records going back that far? You would have had W2's (or 1099's) for the jobs you had. Also, if you remember the employers, but not the exact dates, you can call the HR department, explain that you are a former employee, and they should be able to help you.

Social Security will have a list of everywhere that you have worked (based on the taxes they have collected over the years). I remember seeing mine and having an employer or two I had completely forgotten about. That being said- I have no idea what the context was that I saw this (not sure if it was when my husband passed away or when I received the printout from them showing what I would make if I were to retire/become disabled). For those who joked, big brother DOES keep track. They may not have exact dates- but it will at least have the years that you made money for which companies.

OP here. I guess they use the history and hours worked for a point system. I can remember years and years ago filling for unemployment and they had all of my employers and years employed on record. I'm wondering if I could get that information from a source like that? I figured I would ask.

Yeah, OP. The only person who keeps track of this is you. There's no central clearinghouse where you can request this information.

I'm gonna guess OP is farther out of college than eight years. I'm in my mid-forties, and I'd have a hard time pulling ALL my job history together. Do they need absolutely everything, OP?

Don't you have some sort of long-form resume with all your employment dates and locations? I'm eight years out of college and I do. I can probably go back to my very first job working for a local dentist as closely as the month and year.
