Nor can you say something like, 40% of students admitted to Michigan have SATs of 2700, because nobody can get SATs of 2700. So I don't get these figures.

One more point as an aexample, the acceptance rate at Carnegie Mellon is stated as 27%, however the School of Computer Science only had a 6% acceptance rate.

iDeoending on what you areapplying for, you apply to a particular program or school. Those acceptance rates will be much lower.

This is misleading bc the acceptance rates includes all instate applicants for all majors. And recruited jocks. Not just the math majors. The valedictorian from Beaver Dam, Wisconsin who will play varsity volleyball and major in early childhood ed is included in that % for Wisconsin. etc

I would consider the top 4 very high STEM institutions. With Illinois champaign

They are the leading ones around here with the highest research budgets. Except MIT and Hopkins .

None of those schools are leading STEM universities.
