I'm a PP. The OP didn't ask for us to identify and anyway, so many of these threads turn into attacks on particular schools when people identify. If I had "listened" to these threads, I would have never sent my child where DC is now. Instead, we visited, I talked to other parents whom I knew from outside of the school environment, and my DC did a shadow day (full day). That's what I recommend for anyone looking for a new school.

all of these comments would be more helpful if they identified the school.

Public to Private and worth the money. The communication, the low ratios, the confidence, the challenging homework, etc.. Very happy.

Love our new school so far! Switched from a Catholic school to a smaller private (mostly due to increasing class size) and the change in our child's attitude toward school is amazing! Goes to show you really need to know the right fit for your child (stating the obvious, I know!).

My son said, "This doesn't seem like school - I'm having too much fun!". He is a new student switching from public to private.

This is Monday 22:49 here. I feel like I have a different child. He is so HAPPY and when he comes home, he focuses on his homework right away. I feel like asking the school what their secret potion is...

It's funny, because I had people suggest to me earlier (before we switched schools) that perhaps my kid just didn't like school. In hindsight, I think the real issue is that so many of the public school teachers no longer love their work. The joy has been sucked out of the job for them, they are totally stressed out, and the kids pick up on that stress. It's sad.

Anyway, cross fingers that it stays this way throughout the school year!

Thrilled - my 2nd grader came home with challenging homework in writing, math and a project - sat down at the dining room table 5 minutes after getting home and said he wanted to do his homework! Concentrated by himself and did it all beautifully! So proud

Unlike last school year both my DCs are ecstatic with the beginning of the school year. The high school freshman have found his( in private) place. The six grader is happy to reconnect with friends in public but was real nervous prior to the first day of school.

DC loves the start of high school and we were impressed that we got a call from the principal asking how the first few days went and that the principal already had a sense of DC's personality. We did not receive/expect that level of communication or attentiveness at DC's previous private school.

Knock on wood, so far yes. After a first week that was filled with nervousness (which is of course understandable), I asked my kid to rate his day yesterday on a scale of 1-10, and he said 10! He is in 3rd grade, and he says he's making new friends, and liking his teacher.

I'm 5:39 pp; we moved from public to private. 6th grade.

Yes. Thrilled! My dd always liked school but yesterday used the word "challenging" about her math class and said she really loves the teacher. Bright kid, driven, and it sounds like her horizons are widening in front of her.

Well, today was the first day but YES! Son said his new school was "awesome." I haven't seen him this excited about school in years. He's a 7th grader moving from a public school.
