Our school doesn't really have too many AP classes, but DC took 2 APs, scored 3s and didn't submit.

Did your DC take AP classes though and just didn't submit the AP scores? Or did DC not take APs at all?

My DC is at a top 40 SLAC and didn't submit APs. DC went to a challenging private school and also got into several other highly regarded schools. OTOH, if they had gone to a large public, I think it would have been more important to take APs.

not the PP, but in my DC school they offer only a few AP's and you have to be recommended and get at least an A - in a prerequisite class to be accepted. For example APUSH required an A in world cultures, so most kids graduate with a few APs.

Mine got into several in the 30s and 40s with no APs, and W/L at a couple in the 20s.

OP, it also depends on the school. If your DC is at a school that offers 25 APs and most kids take multiple ones it may be harder than if he is at a school that offers a few. My DCs school was the latter (maybe offered 10-12), and students had to apply to take AP classes, and only one AP section was typically offered.


PP, would you mind saying the name of your DCs high school? It sounds like the kind of high school my DC would be happy in.

For US News National Universities - maybe a U ranked around 70 - certainly better the closer to 100 and beyond.
