Dr. Barbara Osborne
Dr. Jeanne O'Brien

Both at SGFC (different locations). Had a good experience with each, though Dr. Osborne has a softer more careful approach.

Dr Abassi and Dr Sarhan at CFA. Both great and generally do all their own monitoring and procedures, unless they are on vacation (rarely).

One other point: I had three embryo transfers, and I really liked the first two REs, and didn't much care for the third -- but that's the one that was a BFP.

I like her a lot, too.

I used to HATE going for my annual GYN exam with my female doctor. Once I started ART I got used to people looking at my lady bits often and couldn't care less--male, female, student, WHATEVER.

You might have to make some compromises if you are heading down the IF/ART path.

Seconding (thirding?) this. I loved Dr. Abbasi.

Good luck.

I had Dr. O'Brien at SGF also. I also had Dr. Nair for the embryo transfer and she was absolutely wonderful. I love both O'Brien and Nair. I have had Dr. Doyle (male) for the retrieval and for a couple monitoring appointments and he was also very nice. All the ultrasound techs at SGF in Rockville are female so it is really mostly female but I could care less as long as I am getting good treatment.

My gyn oncologist is male and I use to go every 3 months after my initial ovarian cancer surgery so I am use to being seen by males.

I go to Dr. O'Brien at SGF.
However as the earlier posters have mentioned, once your procedures start you will see the doctor on call at the time, not necessarily your primary physician.

I have no personal experience with her but there were many negative posts about her (and Dr. Nair at SGFC K Street) on other threads.

I also saw Dr. Abbasi at Columbia Fertility. She is great! And yes I had to see 2 of the male doctors for monitoring at some point when she was on vacation. But I understand wanting to have a female doctor as your primary doc.

+1. There will be male doctors who look at your vagina. Gasp!

Any experience with female RE’s, positive or negative? Ideally looking for someone who listens and will discuss various options since I’m new to all this. DC is preferred but willing to travel for the right doc.
